Long Term Growth

While reading for an economics class at Brigham Young University, I came across a section talking about long-term growth in the US economy.  It said:
"Small changes from one month to another or from one year to another, even though they are not very noticeable at the time, result in long-term changes in well-being that are almost always more significant than the effects of cyclical [up-and-down] movements." - Dr. James R. Kearl
I couldn't help but think that this applies to our character as well:  although we all have our own ups and downs, it's good to step back every once in a while and look at how far we've come.  This further substantiates the prophet Alma's quote that "by small and simple things are great things brought to pass" (Alma 37:6).

  1. Great quote! I think this time of year is when I look back and notice the long-term changes that have taken place in my life. I think it's important to acknowledge the seemingly small decisions we made (or didn't make) over time that led to these long-term changes. When we understand this scripture about how great things can come to pass as a result of small and simple things, we are more likely to pay attention to our everyday decisions because they really DO matter.
